Favela: Joy and Pain in the City

Brazilian photographers Bira, Elisângela and Adriano, renowned for their exceptional photographic portfolio, share their view of reality in the favelas (shanty towns) of Rio de Janeiro, in an exhibition of impactful moving images.

The photographs capture moments of life in urban Brazil amidst the backdrop of the Cidade Maravilhosa (Marvellous City) and are often on show at the Observatório de Favelas, in Maré, Rio de Janeiro.

The exhibition is free and is on show at the Horniman Museum & Gardens, in London.
