Festival brings big names to Windsor Castle

0

The Windsor Festival, an annual event held at Windsor Castle, has three major reasons to celebrate this year: the centenary of the birth of Yehudi Menuhin, one of the event’s artistic directors, the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth and Shakespeare’s 400-year anniversary.

Among the attractions at this year’s event are world renowned musicians, such as the Orquestra Orpheus, who have set Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet to music; the Windsor Philharmonic Orchestra, who have invited acclaimed violinist Vadim Repin for a special performance of two of classical music’s most well-known pieces – including Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony –; and pianist Frederico Colli, winner of the Leeds International Piano Competition, who will treat the watching public to renditions of works by Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov.

One of the United Kingdom’s most important music and arts festivals, the event promises to be an unforgettable experience for those who chose to come, helped in no small part by its setting at the elegant royal English Castle.

When: 18 September to 2 October
