Zeca Pagodinho takes the samba back with him to Europe, and the British capital is no exception

After the success of concerts carried out in the 2016 tour, Zeca Pagodinho returns to Europe with a new series of performances starting late September. The tour starts out in Paris, where the singer will perform a debut concert. Following that, he’ll put on shows in Lisbon, Geneva, Zurich, Porto and he’ll end the run in London on Sunday, 14 October.

The set list will include samba hits that made him one of the country’s most respected artists, both nationally and internationally. From his debut album, which sold over 1 million copies back in the 80s, he will include “Judia de Mim”, “Coração em Desalinho”, “Brincadeira Tem Hora”, “Casal Sem Vergonha”, amongst others. He’ll delve deeper into his career, revisiting songs such as “Verdade”, “Deixa a Vida Me Levar”, “Maneiras”, “ Ogum”, and “Quando a Gira Girou” through to his more recent hit “Ser Humano”.

Especially included into the set list are samba classics, like “A Voz do Morro”, “Diz Que Fui Por Aí” and “Opinião”, by the legendadry Zé Keti, and “O Sol Nascerá”, by the samba master Cartola and Elton Medeiros as well as “Camarão que Dorme a Onda Leva”, recorded back in 1983, in the album “Suor no Rosto”, by his musical mentor Beth Carvalho, which marked a major milestone in Zeca Pagodinho’s career. This recording propelled the singer, who already had good following in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, to more expansive, national fame throughout Brazil.

With more than 12 million albums sold, he is one of the biggest musicians in the country, both financially and critically, had 8 nominations and has been awarded 4 Grammys, currently making him the record holder for the most “Best Samba-Pagode Album” awards ever. His creative, joyful, malicious songs translate the day-by-day of the typical easy going carioca and are a big success in Brazil.
