There’s certainly an enduring appeal to this Mexican cantina on Langley Street – it’s been serving Covent Garden visitors since 1982 and shows little sign of letting up. Expect a fun and frenetic atmosphere, and a bit of a party vibe.
The food menu combines classic Mexican dishes with those of a more Tex-Mex bent. Expect, therefore, smoked chicken quesadillas, sizzling beef fajitas, nachos and burritos alongside boquerones with smoked chilli mayo, sea bass baked in banana leaf and served with a sun-dried tomato salsa, and chicken chilaquiles verdes – a chicken and corn tortilla casserole.
The selection of tacos looks interesting – think fillings of confit duck with a smoked chilli glaze, roasted pork belly with a tamarind jerk sauce, or tempura scallops and king prawn. Desserts are less traditional too, though churros and flan de leche do feature alongside chocolate brownies, cookies and cream with vanilla ice cream, and a white chocolate and passion fruit cheesecake.
