Italian fashion designers admired around the world
For years, Italian designers have been a guiding light when it comes to fashion. The garments and accessories they create are loved and copied worldwide. With strong personalities, good taste, attention to the smallest details and an abundance of creativity, Italians are natural trendsetters. They also make or break the careers of aspiring models.
In an industry that generates millions and millions—of any currency you wish to think of—these designers are the ultimate style authorities when it comes to sharp looks and an eye towards the future. Whether they’re inventing or reinventing, launching a successful collection with each change of season is not something anyone can do.
Milan, Rome and Florence are where the greatest number of these sensational and creative designers congregate. These are the men and women who weave that “la bella Figura” way of life into the national psyche. And Italy is well stocked, to say the least, when it comes to fashion idols: Giorgio Armani, Roberto Cavalli, Salvatore Ferragamo, Gianfranco Ferré, Alberta Ferretti, Valentino Garavani, Guccio Gucci, Pino Lancetti, Pierpaolo Piccioli, Miuccia Prada, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, Donatella and Gianni Versace, just to name a few, are part of an immense list of those who have won the hearts and minds of fashionistas the world over.
Which woman has never sought after a Versace dress, Gucci handbag, Prada sunglasses, Ferragamo shoes? And, by the same token, countless men aspire to walk down the streets in Armani suits, decked out with other designer accessories from luxury labels. Personalities from all walks of life play “clothes horse” and ambassador to fashion houses when they select their clothes for their “red carpet” moment, whatever that might be.
Dolce & Gabbana, with its own classic but irreverent style, has a stable of A-list ambassadors, including Madonna, Naomi Campbell and Scarlett Johansson. Giorgio Armani has Angelina Jolie, Julia Roberts, Reese Witherspoon, Anne Hathaway and Cate Blanchett among the label’s top clients. And the very traditional and sophisticated Gucci, who has already dressed icons like Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly and Jackie O, is currently helping to style Jennifer Lopez, Salma Hayek and Charlize Theron. Or Emilio Pucci, with creations considered somewhat more daring, has admirers in Beyoncé, Ciara and Halle Berry. And how could we fail to mention Versace, who calls on celebrities like Kate Hudson, Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Hudson. It is impossible to name them all!
The luxury fashion segment has its loyal admirers; consumers and passionate followers who pay whatever they need to for items that are unique, exclusive, and perfectly made.
And what is the Italian recipe for longevity when it comes to fashion? Elegance, refinement, creativity and exclusivity. Hard to disagree with that.
