Saxophonist, composer and poet. This is how Alipio Carvalho Neto is internationally recognized
Born in Floresta, Pernambuco, his history with music begins with his father. Over time, he began his studies at the Music School in Brasilia where he graduated with honours and in 1997 leaves Brazil to improve them in Portugal, where he was invited by the Macau Cultural Institute and the Ministry of Culture of Brazil to research the music and literature areas at the University of Evora. In 2014, he received his PhD in Music History, Science and Techniques at the University of Rome.
With several albums released acclaimed by international critics, Alípio is a complete artist, reflecting in his work his strong personality and his North-eastern origins, with strong and remarkable jazz. Besides having his poems published in many magazines and literary poetry, the musician and educator pays special attention between literary and the aesthetic relationship of music.
On 18 April, Alípio will participate in a workshop about Improvisation’s Philosophy, which will feature the presence of other musicians also to debate, discuss, exchange experiences and ideas on improvisation in the musical scope.
The workshop is aimed at artists, promoters, producers, researchers, teachers and jazz enthusiasts.
