Where to buy books written in Portuguese in London

2

Every time I visit Brazil I make sure I buy books, mostly children’s books for my daughter, but recently I was delighted to discover that there is a bookstore in the heart of London that sells children’s books written in Portuguese called Foyles, on Charing Cross Road (number 107).

foylesThe bookstore has more than 200,000 titles upon its 6.5 km of shelving, 25,000 of which are make up the foreign literature section, with a range of approximately 150 languages.

The books available in Portuguese range from children’s literature to Portuguese courses for children and adults, classic and contemporary Brazilian literature, and even travel guides.

It is definitely worth a visit!

  1. Hello Alexandra et all,

Thanks for the tips! I have been to Foyles many times but had never realised there was a Portuguese section. And I too have tips on the topic! I usually go to The European Bookshop, also in Central London. It was previously at Warwick Street but have relocated to 123 Gloucester Road, Kensington, London SW7 4TE, which reminds me I must pay a visit to their new shop soon.

They offer books in Portuguese, both original versions and translations, from all Portuguese speaking countries and even have a dedicated website: http://www.portuguesebookshop.co.uk/

    Enjoy it!

    Best,
    Paula
