The annual production of bananas in Brazil is 6,953,747 tons. This is the equivalent weight to 88 (Yes, eighty-eight!) Boeing 737-800s with maximum take-off capacity (79 tons). Brazilians consume around 20 kilos per year/per person of this delicious and energetic tropical fruit.

According to the Guinness Book of Records, the world record for the largest distribution of free food took place during the 2010 carnival in Salvador, the capital city of Bahia, when more than 623 thousand free samples of Club Social biscuits were handed out to the public.
