Returning to work at a psychiatric hospital in a Rio suburb after a spell behind bars, doctor Nise (Glória Pires) looks into a new form of treatment for schizophrenic patients, which is not reliant on electric shocks and lobotomies. Her colleagues aren’t convinced and discredit her work, forcing her to change approach. Heading up the Occupational Therapy Department, she once more develops a new and unconventional treatment method, based on love and art.
The film is directed by Roberto Berliner.
