We bet you never realised how many Italian breeds of dog there are!

 

Breeds of personality, charisma, strength and cuteness… The Ente Nazionale della Cinofilia Italiana officially lists 16 Italian dog breeds, so we decided to list the most popular. See how many you recognise.

 

Neapolitan Mastiff – Large, lean, with strong jaw muscles

Maltese – Mini, with long, silky coat

Maremma Sheepdog – Large, with a full and shaggy, white coat 

Italian Pointer – Strong, energetic and resilient

Italian Greyhound – Unable to grow taller than 38 centimetres in height and weighs between 2.5 – 4 kilos, despite having well developed muscles

Bolognese – Small sized, protruding eyes, white and curly fur

Bergamasco Sheepdog – Medium sized, with a long, thick and shaggy coat

Lagotto Romagnolo – Medium sized, with a dense and curly coat

Volpino – Small sized, compact body with well-developed muscles

Cane Corso – Medium-large, muscular and very strong
