On 16 May there was a reception for the Brazilian and British athletes who are set to compete in Rio de Janeiro, in the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as for ex-Olympians (including medal winners) and footballers.
Also present were journalists, artists, business people, representatives from the British and Brazilian tourism industries, British politicians, other British officials (including the CEO of the British Olympic Association), and Bossa Brazil Magazine’s publisher, Glauco Chris Fuzinatto.
The presence of the athletes helped to create an atmosphere of great expectation for the Olympics in Rio. The Ambassador of Brazil to the UK, Eduardo dos Santos, spoke about the preparations, which are progressing at full steam, further fuelling the sense of hype and excitement for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
