Inaugurated in the 17th century by King Charles I, Richmond Park was opened to the public as a hunting ground, with zero restrictions, in 1872. Today, it is the largest green space in Greater London and the largest of the Royal Parks (955 hectares). Offering a panoramic view of central London, it is also an important place for wildlife conservation.
