Rio 2016 – Official children’s programme

0

There are usually school holidays in Brazil during the month of July, however, this year they have been moved to August. Children are free and full of energy, and to make the most of the Olympic Spirit which has taken hold in Rio, there is a special  official children’s programme of activities in the Parque Madureira – one of the focal points of the Olympic Boulevard.

Under supervision from teachers and other monitors, children are able to discover a bit more about the different sports that constitute the Olympic Games. Badminton, Football, Footvolley, Judo, Skateboarding, Table Tennis and Capoeira classes are being offered until 20 August.

After classes, mini tournaments will take place, with prizes for first, second and third place.

The closing event will take place on 21 August, when medals will be given to everyone who participated, as well as special prizes for groups who performed particularly well during the competitions.

It’s a fantastic chance for children to learn more about teamwork, determination, courage and, of course, the Olympics.
