Rio 2016 – Team GB include the most number female athletes for an Olympic Games on foreign soil

For the Rio 2016 Games, Team GB feature a powerful team

They selected 164 women (44.8%) and 202 men (55.2%) to compete in Brazil, surpassing the previous record of 143 women in Beijing in 2008. Names like Nick Skelton (Equestrian – Jumping), Katherine Grainger (Rowing), Jessica Ennis (Athletics), Laura Trott (Cycling), Ellie and Rebecca Downie (Gymnastics – Artistic), are part of the team.

In total 151 athletes and 65 medallists from London 2012 compete at Rio 2016, counting 13 silver medals and 25 bronze medals, including eight from the women’s hockey team.

In addition, the British Olympic Association (BOA) has its largest delegation on foreign soil for 22 years of Olympics, with 366 athletes in total, set to compete in 23 sports.
