English rock band The Rolling Stones will release their first album in more a decade next month. The album Blue & Lonesome will feature various reworkings of classic blues songs.
Amongst the 12 tracks, recorded over three days at British Grove Studios in London, are songs originally by Howlin ‘Wolf (“Commit a Crime”), Little Walter (“I Gotta Go”) and Jimmy Reed (“Little Rain”).
The album also features the special participation of Eric Clapton on versions of “Everybody Knows About My Good Thing”, originally written by Little Johnny Taylor, and “I Can’t Quit You Baby”, by Otis Rush.
The album recaptures the energy of the band’s early years, when the band members only used to play covers of their favourite blues music. Superstar Mick Jagger announced the launch on his Instagram account with a harmonica and the hashtag #PlayingTheBlues.
The quartet has released teasers with snippets from some of tracks, all of which can be listened to on the band’s website. This is a must-have album for fans of the band in the UK, Brazil and the rest of the world.
